About Me

My photo
My name is Abdiel Acevedo. I am from Bayamon, Puerto Rico. I want to major in RHIM, and minor in Public Relations. In the future I hope to obtain a Ph.D in Public Relations. I want to be able to help people out and make the world a better place to live. My Future goals were first influeced by a small project I started my Senior Year of High School. I was able to volunteer my time with an amazing Program called ACE. This program helped me work my way through and get to meet some of the most outstanding individuals at homeless shelters. Through out my whole experience I learned that many people are very selfish and not willing to open their eyes and actually see the amount of help that people can use. I dont like calling the kids "homeless" so I call their shelter their " Temporary Home" inspired by Carrie Underwood song "Temporary Home".

Statement of Intent:

1)      My main goal is to get the kids living in temporary homes to be able to share their ideas and be successful in school by providing room in the shelters where a group of tutors can be there from certain times to help them with whatever they need.

2)      It is important because through out research I have found out that more than 59% of people are homeless in the United States as of 2011.

3)      I would like to work with Public Relations and management so working with these kids and actually being able to build such a big thing in shelter will be a very impressing achievement that I am going to be able to put in my resume and tell people about.

4)      I believe that my project is very giving. Many of the people that are homeless are there because of today’s economy. Many people don’t understand that much of the population that is Homeless falls under the category of grades K-12. They don’t choose to be homeless and many times they can’t do anything about it.

5)      The Richland Triple bottom line includes Economics, Environment, & People. I can easily relate all three of these factors with my project.

a.       Economics- Many people are homeless because they can’t afford the price, and prices just keep getting higher and higher.

b.      Environment- Many of these people live in the streets and by getting them out of the streets and actually putting in Shelter and educating them the environment will be a much better place.

c.       People- This is the biggest thing. I AM HELPING PEOPLE. That is what my major and my project has to do with.
